Over a decade ago, my husband retired and decided to write his autobiography outlining his career in the military and as a college baseball umpire.
Fast forward ten years—I’m ashamed to say that life interrupted. I never read it, and his book was never published. Sadly, he died last month after a long battle with multiple illnesses. I discovered a copy on my laptop and started reading. Rocky was a man of many talents along with being a darn good writer. His story is one that needs to be told, not just for his friends and family but for anyone else who’s interested.
I miss you so much, Rocky. This book is a tribute to the amazing life you led.
Fly free of pain, my love. I’ll see you on the other side.

BULLETS TO BASEBALLS
By Rocky Kruger
Why on earth would a highly-trained, decorated, well-educated Airborne Ranger & Green Beret choose to become a hated but necessary evil called “Blue” (AKA a Baseball Umpire)?
Rocky Kruger lived a life most people dare to dream of. If he wanted something, he went after it. From becoming an Army Ranger to walking on a college football team to umpiring high school and college baseball to serving in Special Forces in his thirties. Rocky did everything with the utmost dedication and desire. He lived hard, loved hard, and strived to be the best in whatever he was doing.
This book is a fictional representation of the adventurous life Rocky led from his twenties to his forties showcasing his ambitions and his commitment to his country. He’s an unsung American Hero, a true patriot who believed in defending his oath to the constitution and our democracy above all else.
